“The Arthur Goddard Pre-1500 Project”
Arthur Goddard – the original Engineer in Charge of the Land Rover Project in 1948 has agreed to put his name to a special batch of the earliest of Land Rovers.
Arthur has indeed worked with many British Motor Industry Engineering icons including; Charles Spencer King the designer of the original Range Rover and Alec Issigonis; designer of the original Mini.
These vehicles will be produced in an extremely limited production run, based on original 1948 cars. Each car will be given a uniquely numbered plaque affixed to the vehicle signed by Arthur Goddard. All donor cars have been carefully selected and sourced throughout the world.
They are all from the first 1500 Land Rovers produced ~ between July and December 1948.
This makes them “True” 1948 Land Rovers. Only 1548 Land Rovers were produced in 1948. 48 of them were pre-production cars, with 1500 production vehicles following. Of this 1500, only 30% of them are known survive today making this is a unique and once in a lifetime opportunity to purchase such a car.
Each vehicle will be restored to an exacting 1948 standard, with authentic materials and finishes throughout. The founders of CKD Shop UK Limited; Robert Sprason and Alexander Massey originally created the company in Australia.
They are the team that helped set up and establish Jaguar Land Rovers “Reborn” program back in 2015. CKD Shop today manufactures and supplies OEM specification components and assemblies for JLR’s Reborn Program. It is with these skills and experience Alex and Rob have gained that will make the cars on offer the most authentic and accurate restorations ever produced in the world.
